My Story
I have been an educator for the last seventeen years. I began my career by teaching elementary school children at a highly academically oriented private school in the bay area. As my children grew and I continued teaching, I observed some distinct strengths and differences in US private and public school education. I felt it would be a great benefit to all children if I were able to teach a broad, accelerated curriculum that organically integrated the benefits of the two systems. This led me to the founding of “Knowledge House.”
Over the last decade, I have been extremely fortunate in personally mentoring hundreds of extremely bright and hard-working students in our community.
Inspire, Nurture & Challenge!
Nothing gives me greater pleasure than inspiring, nurturing, and challenging children to become life-long learners. As I worked with children of our community, unencumbered by the rigidity of a specific curriculum, I became excited by the new opportunities that presented! Not only could I tailor the lessons to children’s appropriate intellectual and social-emotional levels, but I was also able to ensure they had a solid foundation for moving forward.
Math, Language Arts, and Logic
The accelerated tutoring program I provide meets and far exceeds California state standards and Common Core Standards for Math, Language Arts, and Logic. It is a carefully designed, intellectually appropriate program for children who need academic challenge and advancement to complement their work in schools.
With an overarching philosophy of “rising to the challenge,” students develop the abilities, skills, and attitudes necessary not only to excel academically but to succeed in life. That philosophy, plus the personal environment that allows me to know each student and parent, ensure that together we can guide the earliest years of each child’s formal education in the pursuit of life-long learning.
